Jude Bellingham says he “couldn’t have dreamed of anything better” after ending his first season with Real Madrid by winning the Champions League trophy.
The 20-year-old scored Vinicius Junior’s second goal as the Spanish giants beat his former club Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the final at Wembley.
Bellingham has enjoyed a brilliant debut campaign at the Bernabeu, scoring 23 times in all competitions, winning the league title and being voted La Liga’s player of the season.
“I’ve always dreamed of playing in these games,” he told TNT Sports.
“When it gets tough sometimes you start to wonder if it’s all worth it – but nights like tonight make it all worth it.
“This has to be up there in terms of a perfect season. I can’t put it into words, it’s the best night of my life.”
The England midfielder was visibly emotional after the game, initially struggling to find the right words in his post-match televised interview, before saying, “Until I saw my mum and dad’s faces , till then he was fine.”
Bellingham is now due to join up with the Three Lions on June 8 in preparation for Euro 2024.
‘I will always have respect for Dortmund’
Real Madrid and Bellingham both struggled for long periods of the final, with a weakened Dortmund missing several chances in the first half, including hitting the post.
But Los Blancos made progress in the game after the break, culminating in last-minute goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Junior.
Bellingham spent three seasons with Dortmund, playing more than 100 times for the German club, before moving to Spain last summer.
“I have to be honest, they (Dortmund) were the better team in the first half,” Bellingham told DAZN. “They could have been two or three up.
“But that’s just the character… [we] can come back to haunt you.
“The club I’m at now is very special to me and so is my old club. It wouldn’t be possible without them. I will always be grateful for what that club did for me and will always respect it.

“It’s hard to play for this club when you get here. People don’t realize the importance of the club. It’s really nice to be here and take the pressure off like I’ve done. There’s a lot of pressure.
“There’s a bubble of players and staff but outside that, it feels like the world is on top of you. Things happen in training and five seconds later it’s in the media.
“That’s why it’s so rewarding to win for this club. You keep the pressure on and endure it and then you get moments to enjoy until it starts again.”
Real Madrid are flying back to Spain on Sunday where the celebrations will continue. Bellingham is likely to play a big role for England at this summer’s European Championships and although he has had a week off to “rest and relax”, he admitted to feeling tired.
He said: “I go back to the national team on June 8 so I’ll have time to rest and relax. I need to listen to my body this week. I’m sure there will be a lot of celebrating. I think I “Will need something a little stronger than Lucozade tonight.”
Carlo Ancelotti has won the prestigious award five times so far as a head coach. No other coach has managed even five, let alone four, and he has now won nine of his last 10 Champions League or domestic finals.
He told TNT: “It sounds like a dream but it’s reality. I’m happy. It was a really difficult game as always – they played better in the first half and we were better in the second half. Finals are like that. We were able to win and it’s been a great season.
“This is the history and tradition of the club. We have a great atmosphere, we work together without any problems. The atmosphere in the dressing room is good. I want to thank my club and the players without any big ego. Humble. It is not difficult to manage this team this season.
“We’re not going to sleep tonight, that’s for sure.

“When he left us I said the same thing I said to Erling Haaland – that I was proud to be his manager.
“It is their first Champions League win and it is a proud moment for them.
“I know what Mark, Dennis and Jobe [Bellingham’s father, mother and younger brother] have been doing to bring this success to the family. Congratulations to Jude.”
Bellingham, who will turn 21 at the end of June, went to the crowd and placed his Champions League winners’ medal around his mother’s neck after the game.
She responded by kissing her son.
He then took her onto the pitch so she could have a photo with former Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho, who was working for TNT Sports.
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, who has now won the Champions League five times as a manager, also admitted that the game was “very difficult, more than we thought”.
His team failed to get a shot on target during the first half.
“I didn’t like the level we were playing at,” he told Movistar. “We lost the ball too often and in the wrong places. We let Dortmund play how they wanted to – forcing turnovers and playing in transition. That’s where they are most dangerous.

“You never get used to it. We suffered losses in the first half. But in the second half we lost the ball less and played better.”
“It sounds like a dream but it’s reality,” he told TNT Sports.
“I was fine until I saw my mom and dad. There were nights where they might be home by 7 p.m., but they would be out until 12 at night to take me to soccer And my younger brother, who I’m trying to be a role model for.
“This is the best night of my life.”
He added, “It’s a special feeling. Some of my teammates have five or six titles and they say enjoy the first one because when you get to the top of the mountain there’s a feeling like no other.”
“Yes, it’s important to maintain that level, but never forget your first and enjoy it. They were the better team for the majority, but it comes down to moments and if you don’t see us.
