Former Indianapolis Colts defensive lineman Daniel Muir was arrested along with his wife, Kristen Muir, on Wednesday after their 14-year-old son, who was reported missing two weeks ago, was found at their home in Logansport, Indiana.
The arrests were made after Indiana State Police executed a search warrant at the home. Daniel Muir is charged with domestic assault, a Class A misdemeanor, and obstruction of justice, a felony. Kristen Muir is charged with obstruction of justice.
Bryson Muir is “safe and healthy” and now in the custody of the Cass County Department of Child Services, Indiana State Police Sgt. Steven Glass said.
Bryson’s grandmother, Cheryl Wright, called police on June 16 to report that “her grandson was being abused,” according to a Garfield Heights, Ohio, police call summary. Wright told Indianapolis station FOX59/CBS4 this week that she took a photo of her grandson’s injuries.
“His face was crushed,” she said. “When I found him, his eyes were black and his lips were bruised. His entire face was swollen. I can only imagine how many times he had been hit in the face for that to happen.”
Wright said Bryson told him his father was responsible for the injuries. According to the call summary, Wright said she had picked up Bryson earlier and brought him to her home because he was being abused. When Bryson’s mother Kristen arrived at her home and left with Bryson, she called the police. Shortly after Wright filed the report at 7:53 a.m., police found Kristen and detained her in her vehicle. But according to the call summary, Bryson was not inside the car.
Indiana investigators struggled to contact Daniel, 40, and Kristen, 38. FOX59 reported that on Friday, Daniel and Kristen agreed to meet with Indiana State Police and bring in Bryson, who had not been seen since leaving his grandmother’s house in Ohio. But an hour before the scheduled meeting, they backed out, prompting police to issue a statewide silver alert.
Son missing found
Muir’s son, 14-year-old Bryson, was located after a SWAT team raided Muir’s home in Indianapolis around 6 a.m. Wednesday, according to Indiana State Police.
The Silver Alert was first issued when Bryson went missing on June 16 after visiting his grandmother’s house in Cleveland, Ohio. The grandmother told police that Bryson had a black eye and a cut lip before his mother, Kristen, picked him up.
The Garfield Heights (OH) Police Department then located Kristen’s car… but Bryson was nowhere to be found.
The ISP believed Bryson was in danger… and the Cass County Department of Child Services requested an investigation into allegations of domestic abuse towards Bryson.
The ISP said they contacted Daniel and Kristen… who initially agreed to introduce Bryson to them, but “backed out of the arrangement which indicated their unwillingness to cooperate.”
Arrest warrants were issued… and when Daniel and Kristen failed to appear in court on Tuesday, the ISP SWAT team raided their home. He faces preliminary charges of obstruction of justice, a Level 6 felony.
“This is an active criminal investigation, and as such, there is no further information to release at this time,” the ISP said… Bryson appears to be “safe and well.”
The grandmother told FOX 59 she believes Bryson has been “brainwashed” by his parents and the Servant Leader Foundation religious group.
Muir also lives in a compound owned by Straightway Truth Ministries, a religious group that many claim to be a cult.

The situation worsened when their 14-year-old son Bryson went missing. Bryson’s grandmother raised the alarm about it, causing authorities to issue a Silver Alert. The situation took a serious turn when law enforcement released a photo of Bryson showing visible injuries, prompting a child abuse investigation.
