Novak Djokovic has reached the Wimbledon semi-finals after Alex de Minaur withdrew from the last-eight match due to a hip injury.
The Australian ninth seed was scheduled to face 24-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic in the second match on Center Court on Wednesday.
Djokovic, 37, has been given a walkover and will face Lorenzo Musetti on Friday to reach the final for the sixth time in seven years.
“I’m very sad to withdraw due to a hip injury,” De Minaur said.
“I felt a huge crack during the last three points of my match against [Arthur] Phils.
“[I] had a scan yesterday and it was confirmed that it was an injury and there was a high risk of it getting worse if I got on the court.”
De Minaur defeated Frenchman Phils in four sets on Monday to reach his first quarter-final at Wimbledon.
The 25-year-old said the recovery period was between three to six weeks.
“I’ve been struggling to sleep the past few days. I feel like I’m walking,” De Minaur said.
“Just hoping I wake up and feel it a little bit less or feel it to the point where I can at least go on the court.
“But, again, I think it’s almost disrespectful to me to not go on the court at close to 100% against a player like Novak because there’s no point in me going out there if I’m not going out there to try and win. Is.”
His withdrawal will help Djokovic win his eighth Wimbledon title and equal Roger Federer.
He has now reached his 13th Wimbledon semi-final – a joint Open era record with Federer.
Despite undergoing knee surgery just three weeks before a grass-court Grand Slam, Djokovic has looked in great form at SW19.
He made light work of 15th seed Holger Rune in the quarterfinals.

Novak Djokovic has reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon without moving his racket after Australian tennis player Alex de Minaur withdrew from the quarterfinal match due to injury.
De Minaur announced the news during a press conference on Wednesday, revealing that he had suffered a hand injury due to a hip injury.
“Obviously I didn’t want to make any announcement whatsoever,” he told the media. “I’m devastated, but I had to come out because of a hip injury – a small piece of fibrous cartilage that attaches to the abductor.”
De Minaur said he suffered the injury during Monday’s round of 16 match against Arthur Phillies, saying he felt a “strong crack” during the last three points of the match.
“It’s no secret that this, at this stage of my career, was the biggest match of my career.”
“The problem with me going out and playing is that a strain, a slide, a slide, anything, can take this injury (recovery) from three to six weeks to four months,” he said. “It’s too much to risk.”
The withdrawal will mark Djokovic’s 13th Wimbledon semi-final appearance, tying Roger Federer for the most in the tournament’s history.
He will face Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti, who is reaching his first Grand Slam semi-final after defeating Taylor Fritz on Wednesday.
Musetti mocked his opponent during an on-court interview after the match, saying, “For sure he knows the surface and the stadium better than me.” He said the two had faced each other before, which he described as always being a “big” challenge.
Djokovic had knee surgery less than a month before play began at the All England Club after suffering an injury on clay courts at the French Open. Despite the setback, 37-year-old Djokovic has lost only two sets so far.

Australian De Minaur, seeded ninth at the All England Club, announced he was withdrawing from the tournament just hours before he and Djokovic were to play each other on Center Court.
“Obviously I didn’t want to make any announcement in any way,” de Minaur said at a news conference. “My everything was destroyed.”
He said he heard a crack at the end of Monday’s 6-2, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 fourth-round win over Arthur Fields. When the match ended, De Minaur cautiously approached the net, but he played down the seriousness of the incident when he spoke to the media later.

The walkover sent Djokovic into his 13th Wimbledon semi-final and tied Roger Federer for the most walkovers in tournament history.
Second-seeded Djokovic has won seven of his men’s record 24 Grand Slam titles at Wimbledon.
Djokovic will face Taylor Fritz or Lorenzo Musetti on Friday for a place in the final.
De Minaur said the seriousness of the injury was clear from the medical examination on Tuesday, but he wanted to at least try it out and try to play if possible. But during Wednesday morning’s practice session it became clear there was no way he was going to compete.
He said he could barely walk before the match which would have been de Minaur’s first quarterfinal appearance at Wimbledon. He had also made it this far in the French Open last month.
“It’s no secret that, at this stage of my career, this was the biggest match of my career. So I wanted to do anything to play,” De Minaur said. “I knew what the consequences were yesterday, but I still wanted to wake up today and feel some kind of miracle and not have to feel it while walking.”
He said he was told that if he played another match he could damage his hip.
