Jordan Phillips and the Giants made strange partners.
The Post confirmed late Wednesday that the team exchanged a defensive tackle and a seventh-round draft pick to the Cowboys for a sixth-rounder.
Both selections are in 2026.
Perhaps most infamously, the Giants traded first- and second-round draft picks to the Cowboys in 1974 for quarterback Craig Morton, and the Cowboys’ No. 2-overall selection and seven-time All-Pro defensive tackle Randy White. Finished.
Phillips, 31, is not white, but he is a veteran of 120 career NFL games. The Giants didn’t have any of these.
After signing a one-year, $1.79 million contract in April, Phillips did not attend most of the voluntary offseason workouts.
He was stuck as a third-team player throughout training camp and faced an uphill battle to survive the upcoming cut from 90 to 53 players.
According to Spotrac.com, the Giants gave Phillips a $435,000 signing bonus.
The trade signals a vote of confidence in youth at a position where the Giants don’t have many veterans behind projected starters Dexter Lawrence and Rakim Nunez-Roches.
Undrafted rookie Elijah Chatman is having a breakout camp as a pass-rushing complement to the run-stuffing Nunez-Roches.
Rider Anderson, who like Chatman initially joined the team as a rookie tryout in 2022, and 2023 seventh-round draft pick Jordan Riley ahead of Phillips.
Timmy Horn and 2022 fifth-round pick D.J. Davidson could benefit from a trade.
Phillips has played for the Bills, Dolphins and Cardinals, and has 24 career sacks.
He started nine games for Buffalo last season.

Phillips was born to a single parent. His father, George, was in and out of prison, so it fell to his mother, Sherry Alford, to raise Jordan and his two older siblings.
But when Jordan was 2 years old, Sherry died in a car accident.
Jordan went to live with his grandparents, Willie and Irene Alford. Their Wichita home was full of love and discipline. Yes sir. no ma’am. I love you.
But then when Jordan was in sixth grade, even more tragedy struck. Irene suffered a stroke and fell into a coma.
Willie, who was already in his 70s, suddenly found himself in the role of single parent. She tried her best to be there for Irene and Jordan, but it was almost impossible. Jordan started missing not only practice but also school.
Help came from the families of some of his friends, but it was not enough. Jordan was falling behind in school, and his coaches were never sure whether he would get there or not.
He was staggering.
