Sean O’Malley believes the judges robbed him.

Last weekend, O’Malley lost the bantamweight title to Merab Dvalishvili by unanimous decision in the main event of UFC 306. Shortly thereafter, O’Malley accepted his defeat, and offered “no excuses” for his weak performance, but now after a few days away from the event, “Suga” changed his mind.

On Thursday, O’Malley rewatched his fight with Dvalishvili for the first time, live-tweeting his reaction to the incident, and claiming he should have won the decision by taking rounds 1, 3 and 5.
After finishing his recap, O’Malley also went on a brief Twitter space where he detailed why he thinks he deserves the win.

O’Malley said, “I didn’t watch the fight again, because the story about this bullshit fight was that my ass was kicked.” “… I won the first, third and fifth rounds, and I challenge all the idiots who think I got my ass kicked and go watch that fight again… watch that fight again, regardless Whether you hate me or love me, watch the fight again, turn off the commentary, and tell me I didn’t win that fight.

“I won the first, third and fifth matches. Oh, I’m getting so excited right now. I am the winner! I won! I am the winner! Where’s my belt?! Get that belt out of my suitcase! I’m the champion, baby!…

“Merab is still a bitch! I asked him to run around holding his small intestine. the champ is Here! the champ is Here! Go watch that fight again. The 135 bantamweight champions of the world are still here. Bullshit Merab! let’s go!

“But really, Round 3 was close. Rounds 3 and 5, two judges gave it to me. In my opinion, the first round was clearly my round. Round 3 was a close round, I still think it was my round. Round 1, I don’t know how they gave it to Merab. Just look at the stat sheet, he took me down a few times but did virtually no damage. Come on now, tell me I’m wrong! Rounds 1, 3, and 5. I won that fight.

This is not the first time O’Malley has retroactively lamented a defeat.

O’Malley’s first career loss came against Chito Vera in 2020, and after that, “Suga” repeatedly touted himself as undefeated heading into their rematch, and also claimed that he had won his no-contest against Pedro Munhoz. “Won”. And it appears O’Malley intends to do the same here as he continues to tear apart Dvalishvili.

O’Malley said, “Please, I’m telling you guys, you can’t make Merab the winner.” “He’s so boring. I just watched the fight again. I tried to make it as boring as possible. I tried to get up, defend – I actually did more takedowns than Henry Cejudo… I had Merab literally holding his [stomach], running, running away from me, holding his fucking guts out and praying, Saw praying for the fight to end. Watch. Rounds 1, 3, and 5! the champ is Here!”

Next fight

Sean O’Malley has overturned Merab Dvalishvili’s victory at UFC 306.

This doesn’t mean much to the UFC or its matchmakers; But in fantasy land, the belt has been returned to “Suga” and will be defended against No. 2-ranked title contender Omar Nurmagomedov sometime next summer.

O’Malley insisted he won three of the five rounds inside the Sphere in Las Vegas.

“Watching the fight again,” O’Malley wrote on Twitter. “Round 1, I won that round 100%!! This is my round up based on damage. Round 2 definitely lost. However very little damage was done. Round 3 was closer than Round 1 in my opinion. My round. Leading 2-1 in Round 4. Round 4 was definitely Merab’s round. 2-2 going into the 5th. Round 5 I won. I am a champion. God is good. Rounds 1, 3, 5 I won. Defends the belt against Omar in Vegas in June–July. Please repost the ESPN, UFC, fight. and still!”

Unfortunately for Merab, the Suga State Athletic Commission has already voted.
According to the outspoken manager, losing to Dvalishvili won’t prevent O’Malley from getting his next bantamweight title shot. However, in that scenario, Nurmagomedov would need to win when he fights “The Machine” at some point in early 2025.

Unless this unexpected matchup works out.
