Rachel Green may have had Emma’s baby, but that doesn’t mean actress Jennifer Aniston has, and the actress certainly hasn’t been shy about expressing her feelings on why that is.
Read on to learn why Jennifer Aniston didn’t have children and how this journey affected her mental health and relationships.
In an interview with Allure in 2022, Jennifer Aniston explained why she did not have children and that it was not entirely by her choice.
“I was trying to get pregnant. It was a challenging road for me, the road of having children,” she said. “All the years and years of speculation… it was really tough. I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese tea, you name it. I was throwing everything at him.
If someone had told me, ‘Freeze your eggs, I would have given anything.’ Do yourself a favor.’ You just don’t think about it. So today I am here. The ship has set sail.”
During her marriage to Brad Pitt, rumors spread that Jennifer Aniston did not have children because she prioritized her career over family and this was the reason why the couple eventually got divorced.
“God forbid a woman should be successful and not have a child. And the reason my husband left me, the reason we separated and ended our marriage, was that I wouldn’t give him a child. That was absolutely false,” Aniston said.
Over the course of her career, Aniston has been married twice – first to Pitt and then to Justin Theroux – and while both marriages ended in divorce, the actress has never felt better.

“We are complete with or without a partner, with or without a child. When it comes to our bodies we have to decide for ourselves what is beautiful. This decision is ours and ours alone,” Aniston wrote in 2016.
“Let’s make this decision for ourselves and for the young women of this world who look to us as examples. Let us take this decision consciously, away from the newspaper noise. We don’t need to be married or become mothers to be fulfilled. We have to determine ‘happily ever after’ for ourselves.”
