Bella Thomson — known to her online community as Bella Brave — has died. She was 10.
The social media star passed away “peacefully” on Sunday, July 14, her mother Kyla Thomson confirmed in a heartbreaking update posted July 15 on TikTok.
“Our brave girl left her legacy here on earth to dance on streets of gold July 14th 2024 at 4:19 p.m. ET,” Kyla wrote alongside a video of her daughter dancing.
“Bella passed peacefully in our arms,” she continued. “Please keep her name on your lips, her memories alive and her bravery in your hearts. Please share with us every detail of how she touched your life or kept you brave.”
“Bella would want you to remember; God is love, be brave and you are never too old to bring a stuffy. 🧸 #bellabrave,” the message concluded.
In a statement to PEOPLE, Kyla reiterated her hope that Bella’s followers will continue to share how the 10-year-old’s journey touched their lives.
“Everything is hard without her,” Kyla says. “Please help me let the world know I need them to share with us how Bella touched their lives, helped them or how she lives on in their hearts & lives.
She continues, “Don’t ever stop sharing her love and light. Don’t let her memory ever fade. Continue to be brave, be closer to God and love each other fiercely, for her. Though she be but little, she is fierce.”
Bella went viral on social media after showcasing her vibrant personality as her parents Kyla and Lyle documented her life-threatening health challenges with the rare bowel illness Hirschsprung’s disease and severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID), among other health problems.
Bella’s death comes just days after the 10-year-old was placed in a medically induced coma after suffering complications from a viral infection in her lungs, Kyla told PEOPLE on July 11.
“We are, of course, gutted for Bella. Her bowel transplant last August was supposed to be the last medical trauma she would ever have to endure,” Kyla said. “We are not out of the woods.”

Unfortunately, Bella suffered complications, leaving her 7.3 million followers heartbroken. On TikTok, Kyla shared a clip of Bella dancing in a purple dress to Lauren Allred’s “Never Enough” from The Greatest Showman. He also shared a lovely post of his daughter on Instagram.

“I have quietly followed this account and watched her live her best life and not complain once,” one person wrote. “It’s heartbreaking.”

In a post shared on Instagram, the 10-year-old social media personality’s mother, Kyla, confirmed her daughter’s death on July 15, a week after she was placed in a medically induced coma.
Kyla would often post videos of herself and her daughter doing everything from going to Disneyland to messing up her makeup. According to Canadian radio station CJME, Bella was born with three rare medical conditions, including dwarfism, Hirschsprung’s disease and severe combined immunodeficiency.

Bella – born Isabella Thomson – was suffering complications from a lung infection. Before going into coma, Kyla wrote that Bella was intubated in the ICU on July 9. The next day, she shared with followers that their family had received bad news about Bella’s condition.
“The best of the best people were telling us it felt really bad. But I kept my gaze, listening intently, until I heard what hope remained that we could carry on,” she wrote. “Bella’s lungs have developed progressive fibrosis. They believe it may be an immune response.”
She continued: “They have seen this post BMT but why this is happening now and this fast is unknown to them. The only option they have left would be high-dose steroids to help his lungs work again. “We’re on day two of those and day three will give us more information about how quickly we can see improvement in his lung function.”
“Bella is in a medically induced coma. She is stable and is improving on her own now,” she added, noting that she and her husband were doing their best to console her throughout the ordeal. “Lyle and I talk to him, I play music for him and we’re reading him all the cards, letters and messages you’ve sent him. We’re praying and believing that we’ll get his lungs back in enough time.
