The 32-year-old author and reality TV star, who spent eight years in prison for her role in the 2015 murder of her allegedly abusive mother Claudine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, announced in a YouTube video on July 9 that she And boyfriend Ken Urker is expecting their first child.
In her video, titled, “I’m Pregnant, My Journey So Far”, Gypsy Rose Blanchard revealed that she was 11 weeks pregnant and was due in January 2025.
“This was not planned at all. This was completely unexpected, but we are both so excited to begin this new journey of parenthood,” Blanchard said in the video, which she also quoted on TikTok.
Blanchard, who is released from prison in December 2023, addressed the concerns.
“I know there will be people who feel I’m not ready to be a mother,” she said. Their reaction? “I don’t know if anyone is really ready to be a mother.”
“I just want to be a good mother to my child. I want to be everything my mother wasn’t,” she said.
Blanchard was believed to be a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a psychological disorder in which a caregiver makes someone sick in order to get attention or create the illusion of their being sick.

While on the stand during her trial, Gypsy Rose Blanchard described how her mother sought medical attention for her throughout her life to treat various conditions, including leukemia and muscular dystrophy – which she never actually had.
According to the Springfield News-Leader, Gypsy Rose Blanchard detailed how she was forced to use both a wheelchair and an oxygen tank, even though she didn’t need either.

And Blanchard’s surprising news comes just three months after she filed for divorce from her ex Ryan Anderson, and after she started dating Urker again following their early 2018 engagement.
“We are both very excited about this new journey of parenthood,” said Blanchard. “I’ve already experienced the symptoms. When I first found out I was pregnant, the first thing I noticed was cravings.”
The 32-year-old woman further explained that her first sign that she was expecting was probably her craving for orange juice.

“I didn’t think anything of it,” Blanchard said, recalling that she was seeing a fertility specialist regarding her problems. “When I missed my period, I thought I was having problems with ovulation.”

Blanchard explained that she has experienced various pregnancy symptoms, from orange juice cravings to mood swings and fatigue, but she has not had any significant morning sickness.
“So far, pregnancy has been easy in terms of symptoms. I think the fatigue is starting to go down a little bit. That was the biggest symptom for me,” the 32-year-old woman said.
“The baby looks healthy and happy. I know it’s still a long journey but I’m ready for it,” he said.
Blanchard, a controversial figure, also referenced critics in her video message. The social media personality pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for plotting to kill her mother Claudinnia “Dee Dee” Blanchard and served more than eight years in prison before being released in December 2023. She was previously married to Ryan Scott Anderson but they divorced earlier this year.
“I know there will be people who feel like I’m not ready to be a mother and I just, I don’t know if anyone is really ready to be a mother. I don’t know anyone who has said, ‘Okay, I am ready.’ “I think, in my experience, everyone I’ve talked to believes it just happened,” Blanchard said.
